FAQ
The Beef
Nephi, Utah.
We are a complete pasture-to-plate operation, and we offer the best local beef possible. We
grow crops, raise cattle, butcher cattle, and we sell beef to our awesome customers. We further
support local agriculture by purchasing feed and cattle from the best farmers and ranchers in
Utah and nearby areas.
We offer the best beef you can find. Our beef is hand-picked and locally grown with a
consistent, high-quality feeding program. All of our beef is dry-aged with a deep, rich flavor you
can’t find at the grocery store.
We work with certified nutritionists to formulate a complete diet ration for our cattle. These
diets include alfalfa hay, grass hay and silage, corn silage, flaked corn, dried distiller grain, and
mineral supplement. Traditional grain-fed beef is known for its exceptional flavor and consumer
satisfaction.
We also offer grass-fed beef during certain seasons. Grass-fed beef is known for being more
lean than traditional grain-fed beef. It also has a positive reputation for being higher in omega-3
fatty acids, which may contribute to overall heart health. Our grass-fed cattle are in open-range
grazing pastures for at least 90-120 days before harvesting, which is in line with current
scientific research for these benefits.
We grow a large portion of the feed we give to our cattle. We also support our local US
economy by buying feed from our local farmer friends.
We do not use routine antibiotics at our Bar-W feedlots. For the wellbeing, health, and safety of
our cattle, we only administer antibiotics to treat sick cattle. In these cases, we separate these
animals from the herd and treat them to recovery. We give these cattle sufficient time for any
antibiotic to be cleared from their system before processing.
We do not use hormones or steroids to raise cattle in our feedlot.
No, we do not use any mRNA vaccines in our cattle.
Yes. For the health and safety of our cattle and consumers, we use routine vaccinations to
maintain herd health.
Our online orders are fulfilled with “Choice” grade cuts. We offer “Prime” grade cuts as well,
and these are marketed separately on our website.
Our mother cows graze in open-range in the Rocky Mountains of Utah and Idaho during the
summer and fall months. They graze in the beautiful Utah desserts during the winter and spring
months. The calves produced in these areas make up a portion of the beef we sell.
We also source beef from other local ranchers. The majority of these ranchers produce their
calves in Utah. We source a small percentage of cattle from neighboring states. We seek out
high-quality animals, and all our beef is premium, US beef!
Yes, after calves reach a certain age, they enter our feedlots to receive the highest quality feed.
We also have calves that remain in open-range, and these are sold as “grass-fed.”
Yes, we dry age our beef for 10-14 days before processing. This improves flavor and tenderness.
We recommend storing your beef in the refrigerator if you plan to use it within a few days. For longer storage, place the vacuum-sealed packages in the freezer to maintain peak freshness for up to 12 months.
Our beef comes from local, family-owned farms in the U.S. We work closely with American farmers to ensure that all cattle are raised with care, using sustainable and humane practices.
We offer a wide variety of cuts, including steaks, roasts, ground beef, and specialty cuts. Whether you’re looking for ribeyes, sirloins, or briskets, Bar-W Beef has something to suit every preference.
